Bond Information
A Gas Contractor’s Surety Bond is a promise by a surety or guarantor to pay one party (the obligee) a certain amount if a second party (the principal) fails to meet their obligation, such as fulfilling the terms of a contract.
The bonds are typically purchased at insurance agencies, the minimum for Gas Contractors is $10,000. When a contractor purchases a bond, it must be submitted with their licence application to TSASK where it is kept on file. If a contractor’s work does not meet TSASK’s standards, TSASK can call the bond and have the work completed by a trusted contractor which is paid for from the bond.
